Learning Model

Omokoroa Point School has its own unique learning model which is represented by the School Mascot OP. The learning model acknowledges that students learn in different ways and that there are many philosophies of learning and strategies for teaching that contribute to the way students learn. At the heart of the model is the acceptance of the concept of ‘teachers as learners’ and that in the rapidly changing world that we live in, teachers become the facilitators to guide student learning rather than being the ‘fonts’ of all knowledge. Wherever possible, teachers will use authentic experiences as the contexts for learning and give consideration to the questions ‘So What?’ and ‘What’s Next?’
